Project Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Controls Engineer will be responsible for performing detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope.
  • Plan and direct the scope development, design, PLC/HMI programming, checkout, startup and optimization of control systems for industrial process applications.
  • Perform on-site construction support, equipment checkout, startup support and operational efficiency development.
  • Perform and direct the engineering of control systems including the design of MCC single lines, controls panels and electrical schematics.
  • Development of sequence of operations, PLC programming and HMI programming.
  • Assist in development of engineering proposals including scope, budget and schedule requirements.
  • Communicates with project manager or client during the life cycle of the project regarding matters of project development, scope, change orders, scheduling, budgets and troubleshooting.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the work effort of junior engineers and designers. Review the work being performed to ensure the application of sound engineering practices and professional judgment.


  • BSEE, BSEET preferred.  AS degree with applicable experience required.
  • 5+ years PLC/HMI programming experience that includes Allen-Bradley, Siemens PLC’s; Wonderware, Rockwell Factory Talk View HMI’s
  • Relevant Project Management or project leadership experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
  • Working knowledge of Autocad is a plus
  • Functional experience with Microsoft Office
  • Must be a motivated and self directed individual
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
